Written Therapy vs. Talk Therapy for Combat PTSD
Clinical study in San Antonio & Killeen offers novel approach to leading therapy, treatment at no cost

Research shows that exposure-based therapies in which patients talk about their traumatic memories are among the best ways to overcome posttraumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Can writing about a trauma be just as effective? The STRONG STAR Consortium aims to find out.

We’re offering treatment without charge to military service members in San Antonio and Killeen, Texas, as part of a clinical research study comparing two forms of PTSD treatment: (1) a gold-standard form of talk therapy called Cognitive Processing Therapy (cognitive-only version) and (2) Written Exposure Therapy, in which patients write about their trauma.

Are you experiencing any of these symptoms?
--Feeling jumpy or always on edge--Loss of interest in regular activities
--Haunting memories, nightmares, or flashbacks--Mood swings or irritability
--Desire to avoid trauma reminders--Sleep difficulties

If so, this may be a great option for you. Contact us to learn more about this and our other ongoing programs.
